Friday Frags!

Yippee! It's Friday Frags time! So without further ado, here are the highlights of my week - the good, bad and ugly of it.
  • First and foremost, I got to lay my ears on a luscious bonus track on the UK release of Adam Lambert's new CD (YES, I love American Idol. Shut up!). And while I have a love/hate relationship with Ms. Madam Glambert (it's a package deal for me - Even though his voice is STELLAR, if I'm not watching his beautiful eyes and crazy-magnetic stage presence, I just don't like the vocals as much) - this song is absolutely colossal. I wish I was smart enough to snag the songbar and put it on my own blog, but since I'm not, go check it out at Reality Rocks when you're done here. DON'T GO YET THOUGH! I have more crap to talk about first.

  • While I'm on the subject of music, you'll all be relieved to learn I got my John Corbett CD after an agonizing 3 day wait ;). It's fabulous and I'm in love all over again. I also love that I love all kinds of music, if I say so myself. It makes life an endless audiol feast. Yum.

  • You may remember last week that my husband had lost a cousin. Well since writing my previous Friday Frags, he's lost another cousin and an uncle - and on my side, my Dad's best friend passed away, who might as well have been family. It's been a difficult week to say the least. A reminder to live, laugh, and love - right now.

  • Incrediboy decided he wanted a yo-yo after a guy who does yo-yo tricks visited his school. So I got him a blue Duncan Butterfly yo-yo, against my better judgment. I knew I was sentencing myself to a life of incessant yo-yo string winding by doing this, and I was right. Plus, I have gotten the added bonus of untangling and unknotting the string when it gets all wadded up. Yo-yos are so much fun.

  • Speaking of Incrediboy, his school had a fun little event the other night where the kindergarten teachers and the first grade teachers had a volleyball game. Everyone was invited and the kids all made signs, lined up and cheered from the courtside. The real fascination for me though, was to realize just how much he's coming into his own. I watched with bittersweet pride as he hooked up with his buddies and they hung out and clowned around together like boys do ... and I tried with quiet reluctance to prepare myself for letting go of him. It will be a while before I totally have to, but it's coming faster than I expected.

  • There's a rumor going around that I may have been drinking and may have actually only seen a pigeon on Wednesday. But I assure you, it was a hawk. Not to mention I haven't drank in the morning for days.

Happy weekend, friends ~ xoxoxo

What is the point of yo-yos? I remember pestering my parents to get one from me. I think the joy likely lasted a hour.

Popping by through SITS.

I have to laugh about the YoYo, because I'm pretty positive that I did the same thing to my parents after a YoYo master visited our elementary school. That was 20ish years ago, and I also got a Duncan YoYo - the butterfly version. Good to know some things haven't changed :)

Stopping in from Friday Frags. Thanks for visiting me! I'm coming over to pay the fragment favor.

Funny that you mention yo-yo's, because last Sunday in children's church the teacher decided that she would give all the kids yo'yo's as prizes. So both of my kids ended up with one, not so much fun for me. Thankfully the adoration lasted one solid day.

I agree that once your children get into school they start coming into their own. My "princess" has been doing that with me. It's bittersweet.

Lambert does have amazing eyes doesn't he?
My kiddos got yo-yos at an Army function we went to last spring. I could not wait to make them disappear in the night! ;)
Thanks for popping by. I'd be glad to offer what little scouting advice I have. This is our first year, but we are loving it!
So sorry to hear of the losses in your family!

Adam Lambert is far more beautiful than the average woman. It's just not fair.

Yo-yos. One step up from those awful clacker balls....but only because you're less likely to give someone a concussion or smash a finger.

I am soooo sorry to hear about all the losses in your family this week. Hugs, thoughts and prayers are with you.

Awww, I remember those first school events. Seems like yesterday. I can't believe my BABY is graduating next month.

Yo-Yo's oh the pain! We got two for Easter and they magically have gone missing!
Thanks for stopping by my blog and for the advice!
Have a wonderful day!

I have never actually seen American Idol, but I secretly like ol' Adam. Did you know that song "What Do you Want From Me" was actually written by Pink for her own album but she let him record it? Not that it matters, I just carry around a lot of useless information like that.

thanks for stopping by the blog today from Friday Fragments; hope to see more of you!

You are one funny lady! Enjoyed your bits of wit and wisdom scattered throughout this post.

Never been an Adam Lambert fan personally (too much drama) though I was surprised he didn't win AI last year! Sure seemed like the judges were setting him up for it!

My "baby" is 20 and I'm still refusing to think about the day he'll pack up his drums and guitars and dirty clothes (eh ... he can't take those) and leave me! :(

Thanks for coming by my little corner of the world and commenting!

I'm rather fond of yo-yos, I even voluntarily bought them for my kids. However. How many times have you had to intervene before the yo-yo was flung recklessly towards a glass-fronted cabinet or shelf of ornaments? My kids just couldn't seem to grasp just how long the string actually was and refused to take seriously my yo-yos are to be used OUTSIDE ONLY rule!

My condolences to your husband, you and the family..Losing loved ones in such a short time must be rough..

I had my share with unwinding yo-yo string too :-)

Thank you for your words of comfort and visiting.

I love music of different kind too, but I can only listen to it when I'm alone.

Sorry about your husband's cousin and uncle! And your dad's best friend too..It must be so hard right now for your family.

I wish things are better on my end, but with an X from hell, it'll never end!

Sad about the passing of the cousin and your hubby's friend. My condolences. I backed up to read about the cousin--very odd place to die. At least he went quick without a lot of pain.

Visiting from Friday Fragments.

hold your baby every moment you can ... watch him and look into his eyes, the way he moves, the way he laughs and cries. the moments are too fleeting. i had my kids when i was older, so many friends' children are graduating from high school and in college ... and i cry. my first baby has only six more short years. she's developing more distinctly her own sense of self and person, separate from me. it's beautiful to watch and happy/sad all at the same time. she's turning into an amazing young woman, and i am SOOO proud of her! but thinking of letting her go, really go, even move away if she so desires (or is led by God, guess i should put that in), i can't handle that one.
