Enough Winter

Summertime is finally here
That old ball park man is back in gear
Out on 49, man I can see the lights
School's out the nights roll in
Man, just like a long lost friend
You ain't seen in a while
You can't help but smile.
And it's two bare feet on the dashboard
Young love in an old Ford
Cheap Shades, a tattoo and a
Yoo-Hoo bottle on the floorboard
Her favorite song on the radio
Sing along because it's one we know
It's a smile, it's a kiss, it's a sip of wine
It's summertime ~ Sweet summertime.

~ Kenny Chesney

If there's one thing that can be said about me, it's that I hate winter. I have absolutely no idea why I didn't run away to a more pleasant climate when I had the youth and energy to do so.

But with age comes temperence, and I've learned to accept my geographical fate. Mostly.

I seem to do all right anymore, tolerating the gray gloom and miserable temperatures - up through just about now. Round about mid-February, I've had about all I can take. My world's bland color palette and bone-creaking air really start getting to me. I get crabby (even crabbier than usual) and feel excessively exhausted. And I miss my boat. I miss my boat like the deserts miss the rain.

The weather sucks today as usual. It's about 20 degrees and very icy, with a biting wind that makes it feel less than zero. And then the stupid DJ on the radio station I listen to along the morning commute plays this song.

That's just cruel.

... How many days till summer?

We miss our boat, too. We have a 20' pontoon boat with a 90 hp motor. Big enough to pull the grandkids and roomy eoungh for 10 to 15 people to curse the lakes.

Come on spring.

Yep, you should have moved to NC. We have short winters. Had a guy from Philly who complained that it was warmer longer here.

Oh well, can't please everyone.

It sure was nice to get a little taste of summer weather last week. Where it was 90 everyday!!

Too many in my opinion and I can't wait either. I'm getting a serious case of CABIN FEVER and am thinking of setting fire to the mounds of snow outside my house!

Hugs and hope to see you soon!

You are so right girl!

It has been horrible down here this winter.
I have to wear a hat everyday to keep the sun from burning my baldhead; the temperature has dropped way down into the low 70's and now...

They have banned me from going to the beach.

(Personally, I did not think I looked that bad in a thong. In addition, they have a 'Hairy Butt Law' I did’t know anything about.)
That's Florida for ya... :)

I hate winter also...which is why we live in Florida. We went 'boat hunting' this weekend....Mr. J has it in his head he needs a 'bigger' one...the male psyche...it's costly sometimes ;) We had 80 degree weather all weekend....wish you could have been with us sitting at our favorite bar and grill on the water ;)

I don't know...but spring is just a month away!

We had another ice storm go through here early this morning, with freezing rain....lightning and thunder. Talk about bizarre! Then sleet followed. SNOW DAY! (The only positive) but I'm beginning to yearn for 'greener pastures'. I'm with you. ENOUGH ALREADY!

I use to live in the mid-west so I remember the winters and don't miss them. I have to say that I am enjoying this time of year where I live but please don't wish for the summer cause ours last for 6 months of over 100 degrees! You never have to watch the weather report.....it's bloody hot!!!!

Hate it! The sun is shining brightly this morning, but it is BITTER cold out. Hub discovered our furnace out last night around 10:30 and he was up until 1:30 fixing it. He is amazing! He fixed it! He was almost ready to wake me up and have me take my kids to my moms for the night so we didn't freeze!

So sorry you've got the winter blahs. I was happy to leave Michigan in 3rd grade and have never looked back! You could always come visit me - it's gonna be about 85 today!

Yeah winter weather, Bummer!
Makes me hurt. Everyone has been sick over and over here. Since December. Feburary has been the worst. Thank goodness Spring will soon be here.
